Dr Kellie Pendoley, Paul Whittock, and Rebecca McCracken have all been invited to deliver oral presentations at the 32nd annual International Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation in Mexico, in March 2012. Kellie said “As a small organisation working closely with industry, we are absolutely delighted with the news as it is a recognition of our innovative and scientific approach to managing marine turtle populations within the context of industrial activity.”

The presentations are diverse; Dr. Pendoley will be presenting on innovative light pollution monitoring techniques she has developed in conjunction with local astonomers, to better predict lighting impacts on turtle hatchling sea finding behaviour.

Paul Whittock, Pendoley Environmental Marine Scientist and James Cook University PhD candidate, is presenting a method to predict marine turtle behaviour around marine dredging operations using satellite tracking data.

Rebecca McCracken, one of our Graduate Environmental Scientists, is delivering a presentation on the annual volunteer marine turtle tagging program the Company manages on behalf of the Chevron Gorgon Project on Barrow Island.

Competition for oral presentations at the annual symposium is fierce, so we are very pleased to have all three papers accepted.
